Credentials and Background:

I am a licensed clinical social worker and the executive director at a nonprofit organization serving and supporting learning challenged young adults and their families in their pursuit of independence.

My interest in psychology began in high school after taking an AP psychology class.  Learning about psychology while observing the struggles my peers were experiencing led me to explore the helping profession further. In college I initiated and co-led an eating disorders support group with a graduate student and involved myself in volunteer and research assistant opportunities that allowed me to work with children and young adults. My college experiences also guided me towards mindfulness practice. I have a deep appreciation for yoga and mindfulness, and the growth that comes along with it.  I integrate elements from yoga and mindfulness practices into my work.

After receiving my Bachelor of Arts in psychology and women’s studies from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, I began working as a residential treatment specialist for wards of the state, specifically providing support to clients identifying as gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.  After two years in the field, I returned to school seeking a Master of Social Work degree. I obtained my MSW from Jane Addams College of Social Work at University of Illinois-Chicago with a focus on children and families. After receiving my master’s degree, I continued work in child welfare, working as a foster care case manager and clinician for social service agencies in the Chicagoland area. My experiences in child welfare allowed me to work with many larger systems that we all have contact with in our lifetime. With this, I gained expertise in navigating the complex systems in our society.  I greatly enjoy working with children, teens, young adults, and families.  I have clinical experience working with trauma, depression, anxiety, acute life stressor’s and grief.

Therapy style:

I bring integrated and holistic approaches into my sessions. Some of the styles of therapy I draw from are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), humanistic therapy, positive psychology and family systems therapy.

About me:

Outside of my work, I have a daily meditation practice that I am dedicated to. I love to dance, and explore creative hobbies, listen to vinyl records, and relax with my dog, Zoey.
