About Me
I’m Ashley Allis, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over 13 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in working with young adults and adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, autism, stress, life transitions, and pregnancy and postpartum mental health. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and always tailored to the unique needs of each individual I work with.
My passion for mental health began during my time as a volunteer at the Inpatient Psychiatry Unit at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. This experience inspired me to pursue a bachelor’s degree in psychology from DePaul University, followed by a master’s degree in clinical counseling from Rosalind Franklin University.
I bring a well-rounded clinical background to my work, with experience in in-patient psychiatry, community mental health, and private practice. I started my career on an in-patient unit, where I supported individuals during acute mental health crises. I then worked in community mental health, helping clients manage ongoing challenges such as trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Now in private practice, I draw on these experiences to offer compassionate, individualized therapy in a safe and collaborative environment.
In 2016, I founded Ashley Allis Therapy, a private practice grounded in the belief that therapy should be personalized, accessible, and empowering. I’m committed to providing individualized counseling that supports emotional well-being and lasting personal growth. Whether you're struggling with chronic stress, adjusting to a major life change, or simply feeling stuck, therapy can be a powerful step forward—and I’m here to walk that path with you.
Therapy Style
In private practice, I’m able to offer individualized, focused, and longer-term therapy that supports meaningful life changes and personal growth. My approach is grounded in warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor, helping clients feel at ease as we work together toward their goals.
I draw from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Solution-Focused strategies, tailoring each session to meet the unique needs of the individual.
With experience in hospital inpatient care, community mental health clinics, and private practice, I understand that no two clients are the same. I believe the most effective treatment begins with a strong therapeutic relationship and a personalized plan developed in collaboration with each client.

More About Me
When I’m not in session, you can usually find me in the kitchen trying new recipes, exploring local restaurants—sushi and tapas are my go-to favorites—or planning our next family trip. I love staying active, whether that’s a walk outside, a workout class, or just chasing after my daughters. Time with my husband and kids is what grounds me, and I deeply value the balance between my work as a therapist and my life as a mom, partner, and food enthusiast.
